Thank you for supporting Slave Lake

Jun 21

Thank you wonderful Vanier students and families for having raised $2315 for Slave Lake and Nothern Alberta families.

They have survived raging wildfires, I will survive a very short buzz cut.

Check out video and pictures of my buzz cut on multimedia and special events section of http://www.vaniercommunitycatholicschool.ca/

===================

On May 15, 2011 the town of Slave Lake and areas of Northern Alberta were ravaged by wild, out of control, forest fires.

356 homes in and around Slave Lake were totally destroyed with another 276 damaged.  That’s a huge amount of 632 houses affected.  Having lived there for 6 years, my family knows a lot of families that are survivors and it has touched us enormously. As well, our staffs both at Vanier and Holy Redeemer Schools know many people divisionally who have lost everything.

It takes a lot of time, hard work and dedication to rebuild a community.  Many people have lost everything.  They were only able to grab a few things that were important to them.

Losing hair is just a little hiccup in life compared to losing your home containing precious possessions.

Help my Friends in the North rebuild by raising at least $2011 for the Red Cross.   We have also challenged Holy Redeemer and Mr. Colin Cartwright (exchange teacher from Australia) has gracefully accepted.  He will buzz his hair and beard for this fundraiser.

If we achieve our goal at Vanier,  Mrs. Churchill will buzz cut my hair on Tuesday, June 21, 2011.

Thank you my wonderful Vanier families!!!

It’s way easier to lose hair than to lose your home
